Special information for our ShopBell COVID tracing app

Our ShopBell App stores information, via your use of a QR-Code, about your attendance at one of our client businesses (example: a restaurant). The goal of this feature is to increase your personal safety and data security by:

  • Removing the need to use a common pen and paper to "check-in" to a business.
  • Keeping your attendance data on a secure server ... rather than in paper form at the business location.
  • Sharing with the business staff only the data they need for your visit ... e.g. "Jane D checked in", rather than your full name and personal details.

Our goal is to only keep this data about your attendance at the business for as long as is needed for the COVID crisis. The data rules for this, which differ by country and region, are still in flux. We will update this section of our Privacy Policy as more is known, but our current policy is to hold the "check-in" data for 90 days.

Special information for our Groopli boating app

Location information is at the core of this app - giving users the ability to easily find other friends' boats. Important notes on this location information:

  • Similar to the AIS boat location system, the location of your boat is public by default. You can change this setting in the App's Settings Tab. Some users like to have their location public when they are cruising (so other people can find them) and private when not aboard.
  • If you choose not to make your boat location public, your location is only shared with friends.
  • All boats are publicly searchable - to enable easy "friending".
  • The app shows boats that are nearby (and how far they are from your current location) if their location is public (or you're a friend). This is for when you are cruising and want to see who is nearby - for example, finding someone from your Yacht Club.
  • Business location information, as opposed to boat locations, is by default public. This allows users to easily find and contact the business.
  • We do not share location information with any 3rd parties.
